The State Data Center Network is a partnership created to have local experts on Census Bureau data the public and entities could contact for answers to their questions. Northern Illinois University served as a Coordinating Agency since 1978. 

In 2016 Sherrie took over the management of the data center at Northern Illinois University until 2019 when she took over as the Interim Lead for the State of Illinois. 

Duties were to field email and phone inquiries on how to use the data along with educating the public and agencies on how to access/utilize the data. There were several workshops on how to enhance analyses by joining additional federal and state datasets. It was also necessary to work with various Census departments to ensure Illinois local governments were submitting their data on time, such as building permits.
